Thousands
of Electrician License
Applications Submitted
7/20/2004
The
Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) received tens
of
thousands of applications from electricians seeking a state license
during the statutory grandfathering period, which ended June 1.
If
you delivered or mailed in an application by June 1 and you cannot
obtain a status report on your application from the TDLR website,
please
be patient. TDLR staff is working double shifts, weekends and holidays
processing the applications as quickly as possible, but because
an
extremely large number of applications were filed during the last
few
days of the grandfathering period - and applications are still arriving
- there may be a delay in posting status reports on the web.
If
you delivered your application to TDLR on or before June 1, or if
you mailed an application TDLR that was postmarked on or before
June 1,
your application meets the filing requirements of the grandfathering
period and will be processed accordingly.
In
addition, a state license is not required until September 1. Please
be patient.
If
you received a Request for Information (RFI) letter asking for
additional information that will allow TDLR to process your application,
please respond immediately. If after you respond, your application
status is not immediately updated, please be patient. TDLR has a
very
large backlog of incomplete applications to address. Staff is processing
additional information as quickly as possible, but because of the
large
volume of incomplete applications the processing is taking a great
deal
of time.
Again,
if you filed you application prior to June 1, you have met the
requirements of the grandfathering period.
