State Representative asks for clarification of terms relating to
Electrician Licensing
7/20/2004
State
Representative Joe Driver has asked Texas Attorney General Greg
Abbott to clarify the meaning of the terms "master electrician"
and
"master sign electrician" as they pertain to the on-the-job
training
supervision requirements of House Bill 1487, the Texas Electrical
Safety
and Licensing Act.
Specifically,
Representative Driver asked General Abbott to render a
decision on whether the law requires that the person supervising
an
applicant's on-the-job training be licensed as a master electrician
or
a master sign electrician.
Representative
Driver also asked for a clarification on whether the
Texas Occupations Code authorizes the Texas Commission of Licensing
and
Regulation to define by rule or policy the nature and duration of
work
experience that will qualify a person to supervise on-the-job training
of applicants.
